Wild Oats

Wild Oats
Liliaceae Family

The Small Bellwort, Uvularia sessilifolia, is also know as the Sessile bellwort and commonly referred to as “Wild Oats”. This beautiful cream colored flower hangs lazily from unstalked, sessile, leaves. The long stem, below the leaf & flower cropping, can be 6 to 12 inches tall and is straight and smooth except for occasional angulate branches. They are usually found in groups in forests and wooded areas throughout eastern North America from April through June.

I took this photograph along the north rim trail above the Tallulah Gorge in Tallulah Falls, GA USA.
